Cambridge Science Festival

Thursday 12/13

We had a flip flop day!  We tried math first thing and writing at the end of the day.  The children seemed to go with the flow.  In fact, we will be trying it again next Thursday.  We especially liked having extra time at the end of writing to share our stories.

Wednesday

We started our morning at the hunger banquet. Mr. Hanna read 2 stories to the school. We learned about needs and sharing what we have.

12-12-12.. How many ways can you make 12? Did you notice a pattern?

Most kids got to participate in a fun art project this morning-Simon Says Drawing! Ask your child what they drew. Unfortunately a few first graders had to finish up stations..

This afternoon Liza shared about Hanukkah during poetry time.

First graders learned a new way to practice spelling words. Look, say, cover , write, check.

Tuesday

Successful lock down practice! What patient children we have!

Everyone has a special outside people package. You have skin, hair, etc. An egg has an outside package in both a white and brown shell. Inside of people there are feelings and thoughts and interests. Inside both white and brown eggs there are yellow yolks and egg whites. No matter what you look like on the outside, we are all similar inside.

At math time, the kids did a scavenger hunt around the room for 3d shapes.

Monday

Hope everyone enjoyed their weekends!

Reminder--early release tomorrow!!

Our morning started with a PRIDE assembly. The first graders shared all about being a good friend. I will edit the iMovie so it only has our students in it and post it on here.

When we got back to our classroom, the students wrote about friendship and/or the assembly.

The students were very busy during Centers today!

This afternoon we started our math unit on shapes!

First graders practiced for the assembly..... Please remember to wear your pride color on Monday. Blue for first grade. Purple for kindergarten.

Kindergarteners wrote facts about mummies and played a word family game with John's Mom.

Now, Zachary G.'s Mom is reading a book about dolphins in honor of his birthday!

This afternoon we have choice, gym, and a mystery reader!! So much fun to come!

Have a great weekend!
